Independent ISPs play an essential role in keeping rural and remote communities connected. Increasingly, that role also includes helping customers stay safe online.
This webinar will introduce CIRA’s Canadian Shield ISP Security Partnership and explore how independent ISPs can provide a baseline level of cybersecurity protection to residential customers as part of the connectivity they already deliver. Canadian Shield provides DNS-level protection against known malicious domains associated with phishing, malware and botnet activity and can be deployed across an ISP’s network without requiring customers to install additional software or hardware and you get a safer, better performing network!
The session will focus on the practical value for smaller operators, including how they can:
• Extend meaningful cybersecurity protection to customers
• Support network and customer resilience
• Gain insight into threats affecting their networks
• Help bring accessible, Canadian-operated cybersecurity services to underserved communities
The discussion will also look at how CIRA and independent ISPs can work together to strengthen the resilience of the communities they serve.

Join us on October 7 for a webinar featuring Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) and YRH Engineering, where we will explore the Indigenous Priority Window (IPW) from both a regulatory and practical implementation perspective.
Attendees will receive the latest information directly from ISED’s IPW team, including key dates, application requirements, and regulatory considerations. The session will also examine how spectrum access can be transformed into real-world connectivity solutions, with practical examples of rural and remote deployments. Topics will include cellular and fixed wireless network design, common implementation and operational challenges, and high-level cost considerations.
Designed for Indigenous communities, service providers, and project partners, this webinar goes beyond policy to discuss the realities of planning, delivering, and sustaining connectivity projects in underserved areas. A live Q&A session will provide an opportunity to explore the broader business and operational challenges associated with long-term service delivery in rural and remote environments.

Fibre deployment isn't always feasible. Whether you're facing prohibitive construction costs, right-of-way challenges, or need rapid deployment, free-space optical (FSO) technology is emerging as a carrier-grade alternative for multi-gigabit connectivity.
This webinar explores real-world FSO applications, including last-mile access, enterprise connectivity, tower backhaul, fibre backup, and rapid deployment scenarios. Hear from Attochron about how they have overcome the challenges that have plagued previous FSO solutions, plus insights from Tom Barnett, Lumen Technology's Director of Strategic Innovations, about their field testing in challenging conditions and the criteria they used to validate FSO for commercial deployment.
You'll learn how FSO:
